Fast Card Friday

I was doing more digging into the pile of bits and pieces on my work desk and decided to throw together this neat little birthday card.  I purged a bunch of these card things that I had not too long ago, but I kept this kite one with a few others because I thought they were cute and actually useful.

I spiced it up a little with some washi tape and dimensional flowers, but I think the washi tape could be on its last leg.  It didn't really want to stay down, as evidenced by this photo.  I'm probably going to tack it down with some clear glue before I send it off to anyone.

Wrap It Up #6

Yet another high school page that I never got around to finishing.  This was the first page I've tried to fix that I actually didn't like what I tried to do originally.  I mostly didn't like how the color scheme seemingly had nothing to do with the subject of the photos or the photos themselves.

I ended up adding in some blue striped paper mostly to make it feel more like EIU and to match the colors in the photos better.  I and removed the flower buttons because they felt so out of place no matter how I much I tried to spruce up the page.  I covered up the marks they left with the bling that I thought was more appropriate for the page.

I'm surprised I was able to salvage this page as much as I was.  I usually have pretty good instincts in designing pages but clearly not always.

28 Days...

The countdown to my favorite Holiday continues with this cute little card.  It's not as spooky as some of my other efforts, but it's perfect for some of my more wholesome friends.

You may notice the large amount of buttons and that is because, as is becoming a theme on this blog, I am STILL getting through the button stash.  At least this card really put a bit more of a dent in the situation than others.  I also used a bunch of scrap paper and helped clear up a bit of that bin as well.

Wrap It Up #5

I lucked out again and found a page I never finished that also was mostly complete.  I only had a few more finishing touches and I was done!

I really like how the page came together, though I am perplexed as to how I ever made the scalloped edges of the patterned pink paper back in the day.  I know I'm the one who did it, I just have no recollection of the actual process.  Maybe one day I'll remember and get to use the technique again.

Wrap It Up #4

Lately I've been trying to reorganize some of my scrapbooks by year.  I don't tend to like working on scrapbooks in order or as a whole so much as just making pages when I find photos I want to scrapbook, but the problem with that method has been me not knowing what I have and haven't scrapped yet.  I found this page in dire need of an update while I was scrambling through an old book trying to find out if I'd made a page with a DIFFERENT set of photos.  I figured finishing this page would be a fairly simple task and I was right.

Luckily for me, once again, my base page was pretty good.  I had also just picked up these flowers and thickers from Tuesday Morning so I was able to pretty quickly pull everything together.  I love the way it turned out and can now proudly put it in the album I've dedicated to my senior year of high school.

Wrap It Up #3

For today's Wrap It Up Page I think I genuinely thought I was done with it when I originally made it, but I decided to spruce it up just a little bit more.  It's shocking how much just a few embellishments can add to a page.

I almost didn't post this page because I altered it so little but I think that is the beauty of it and why I should post it.

I don't have elements to tell because they're all so old, so forgive me for the abrupt end to the post.

Fast Card Friday

I decided to take a pile of scraps I had on my crafting table and make something useful out of them.  This is what I cam up with.  It was a nice quick card to crank out and it helps replenish the birthday stash that I am running low on.

Unfortunately there aren't any identifiable elements to identify on this card as the pieces I used have been sitting for a VERY long time.

Wrap It Up #2

Today's page is one that I'm surprised I never finished.  It had pretty good bones and had I added ANY text I might've considered it done.  I really like the color combo past me chose.

It's really shocking to me just how close I got to finishing some of these pages before walking away.

The crazy part about finishing this page was that I only added 3 elements; some washi tape, felt buttons, and letters.  I had to add extra glue to the letters to get them to stick down, but that's probably because I've had them for quite awhile and original purchased them from a clearance pile.

Wrap It Up #1

Last year's Wrap It Up challenge that I set for myself didn't go so well so I'm hoping that this year will be better.  I have a lot of scrapbook pages only half finished and I want to make this year feel more worthwhile.  I spent a lot of months aimless and unmotivated so I'd like to end on a positive note.

This first page is one that I had a lot of fun amping up.

When I first started the page I must've used some funky versamark/shimmer combo that I really like.  I went looking through my stash of stickers and embellishments and was very lucky to find that I had a set that matched the color scheme almost perfectly.  I used them, a random board sticker I had and cut up, along with some stickers to indicate the year and other details, to make the page something I consider to be complete.

I'm looking forward to working with more of these types of pages this month and finally getting some of them done.  It'll feel good to go into the new year with a little less baggage.

Fast Card Friday

It's been awhile since I've done a Fast Card Friday, but here we are.

The card I decided to make today was mostly an excuse to use up some of these postage stamp stickers I had laying around.  I thought a card would be a good way to display them all in their glory, and I also was running low on thank you cards in my emergency bin.

I think it turned out pretty cute and it was fast to make which is always a bonus for me.  As much as I love crafting, sometimes I don't have much time to do it so quick projects are great.

Pastels

This page was a good way for me to try out some colors that I usually don't gravitate to.  Pastels are not really my thing ever, but I forced myself to try.

It looks a little sparse and lack luster to me, but it's alright all things considered.  I was excited that I got to use more of the buttons I picked up from an estate sale though.  I bought a lot of a couple thousand buttons so I'll be working my way through them until I die.

Trash Kitty

This page was mostly inspired by my want to purge some of my embellishment stash I've been hoarding for far too long.  I wanted to use the flowers you see on the page and happened to have these cute photos of my cat just waiting to be scrapped.

I really liked how it turned out, though I'm pretty biased since I love the color orange and I love my cat.  I did like how I used the washi tape to create decorative squares.  It's given me a new way to use up some of my tapes and it's a technique I'll probably start using more often.

17 Days

This should hopefully be the last bad camera photo that I put up for this month.  I don't know what got into my phone, but I think it's done throwing a tantrum now.

I wish you could see the glitter aspect of the "boo" better. I used a lot of different textures and elements for this card and yet somehow I think they all come together nicely.

I unfortunately used only scraps and random bits whose origins have been lost to time so there are no identifiably elements.

18 Days

Once again my phone camera isn't doing this card justice, but it's good enough.

I really enjoy using funky colors for these types of cards and these leftover bits I found in my stash really give me room to play.

I also was a bit of a cheeky lady and sent this to one of my chemistry friends hoping they'd appreciated the apothecary type theme.

19 Days

I fell a little behind with posting cards these last few days/week thanks to an unexpected colonoscopy procedure.  So fun.

Hopefully I'm done with all that and back on my cardmaking game.

I had some major problems photographing this one on my phone, but I think you get the idea.  I really liked using up some bits and scraps and breaking out twine.  I haven't used twine in a long time and I'm quite pleased with it.  It was a fast card to assemble and get in the mail which is another added bonus.

25 Days

Today's card feels surprisingly whimsical despite the large dark skull gracing the front of it.

Once again, I got to use some embossing powder which I think looks pretty cool with the other raised and textured elements in the design.  I'm using up scraps and still creating pretty pieces that I'm very proud of.  So far this October Halloween countdown has been very productive!

26 Days

The Halloween card I have for today was once again a very quick one to piece together, but it definitely still fits with the spooky theme of the month!

I'm starting to realize that I don't have quite as many Halloween sentiment stamps as I thought I had and I might need to remedy that soon...

There aren't too many bits that I can identify on this card though I do know that the trees came from an unknown Stampin' Up! subscription box from years ago that I don't know how to accurately list below.  Otherwise enjoy the following list of one.

29 Days

The countdown continues with this funky Halloween card!  It's mostly all made of scraps and other pieces I've had sitting around for far too long.

I'm trying to experiment more with color and try to branch out of the traditional Halloween colors for some of these.  It's mostly an excuse for me to keep from going completely orange and black insane under the guise of creativity.

30 Days

This Halloween card was really exciting for me to make because it's the first time in a long time that I've broken out the embossing powder.  I forgot how much I love watching it gild itself under the heat gun.

I started out by just cutting the background triangles out of some of my Halloween paper, then the rest just unfolded from there.  The scissors I used for all of my cutting were also old ones that my mom used to use way back when our family first got hit with the scrapbooking bug.  Between them and the embossing powder I really felt transported back to that time.

31 Days

It's that time of year again, my favorite time of all, SPOOKY SEASON!  I'm kicking off this Halloween countdown with a fun little pumpkin duo.

I mostly aimed to use up some scraps when I designed this card, but I absolutely love how it turned out so I might try to emulate it in the future with what scraps I can scrounge up.

I of course made sure to have bling in my design because we all know by now that I can't live without it but I like that it doesn't completely distract from the other elements.

I'm looking forward to bringing the spooky feel the rest of this month!

Last Minute

Today I made a last minute birthday card.  I accidentally missed a fairly important birthday, but I figured better late than never!

It looks pretty simple, and that's because it is, but I really wanted to keep it easy to mail and use washi tape.  I don't tend to use washi tape as much as I want to (or that my collection implies I should be) so getting to play with it and being reminded of how much I enjoy it was nice.

Love It

Today's page was a very special one for me to make because I really love the photo I used.  It's an old one of my cousin and I on my grandpa's lap when we were little.

I really like how I was able to pattern mix my papers and incorporate some old textured paper I'd been holding onto since about 7 or 8 years ago.

Sometimes it's difficult for me to figure out how to mix multiple textures, patterns, and materials together but I think this turned out pretty cohesive.

I accidentally deleted my file that told me all of the elements and where they came from so the list is really short.

Feelin' Myself

Today's page was fun for me to look back on one of my many different hair colors I've had.  I took this right after I it dyed orange which complimented my St. Patrick's Day just a few days later.  I don't usually scrapbook just a selfie but I decided I'm going to start.  There's nothing wrong with showing yourself some extra love.

I really liked getting to play off the colors in the photos to pick a paper that I might not usually have gravitated towards.  The background paper is from the lot I got at an estate sale and while it's not my usual style I really like the way it works here.

I also got to use some stickers I had that were supposed to be spring/Easter but that I hadn't used in years.  I figured this was just as good of a time as any to break them out.

Scrapbooking Fever

Lately I've been trying to go through my box of ticket stubs and other mementos to try and scrapbook them.  This is the playbill and ticket from when one of my dad's coworkers gave me tickets to a musical.  I used them to go on a first date and while the date wasn't all that exciting the musical sure was!

I tried to keep a fun disco-esque theme with the page since that was what the musical was focused around.  I also got to use a lot of sparkle and sequins which is right up my alley.

Cat Bath

I love this picture of Big Kitty, because sitting by my baths is one of his favorite things to do.  The water is a funky color from a bath bomb I was using, not just bad pipes.

What makes this page unique is that all the papers and the buttons were actually things that I picked up from garage sales.  I bought about 7 lbs of scrapbooking papers for $10 and now I'm just working my way through them.

Something that you can't tell from the pictures of this page is the texture of the background paper.  It's actually fuzzy which made it seem that much more appropriate for framing a cat picture.

Christmas in July #1

I am super determined to get ALL of my Christmas cards done this year.  Last year I got most of them sent out in time but unfortunately not all of them and I feel really bad about that.  Hopefully starting this early with my annual Christmas in July undertaking will help me out.

I was pretty excited to make this card with a new stamp set from Tuesday Morning.  I thought the little snow globe was super cute and perfect for my friends who might not celebrate Christmas but who I want to wish a happy holiday season to anyways.

***I'm just now noticing a very distinct cat hair on the card in the photo...sorry***

I was also pretty stoked that I got to clear out some scrap papers and some scrap twine as well (though I still have a ton of this one in particular so I might rework this card to mass make a few and use it up).

I decided to use a silver marker and add in extra "snow" to the snow globe since I thought it was looking a bit sparse.  After I did so, I couldn't help myself and I added some to the rest of the card as well to jazz it up a bit.

Just A Little Cutie

Let me start off by saying this little hedgehog is probably the cutest stamp I own.  I had him for quite awhile before I finally decided to actually use him and make this adorable little card.  I actually made this card a few weeks ago but forgot to share him so here we are.

Once again, as with most of my greeting card pursuits as of late, it was mostly an attempt for me to use up scraps and pieces that I've had cluttering my stash.  I will admit that the stash is beginning to feel endless, but I'm doing my best to clear some of it out.

The colors turned out a little wonky on camera but nothing too crazy.  I'm proud of myself for trying more pattern mixing which is often out of my wheelhouse.  Overall, I'm pretty happy with how this project came out, especially considering how quickly it was thrown together.

I actually used this as one of the cards that I sent out to my friends last month when I was trying to cheer them up with little goodies in lock down.

Seeing Double

Recently I decided to make my own mini challenge for myself by taking 2 cards folded from the same paper and 2 identical sentiment pieces and try to make 2 different cards from them.  What resulted are the cards in this post.

While I think they have some major similarities I do think that I managed to create 2 cards with fairly different overall looks.  The color palettes are very very similar and yet the executions are distinct.

I really enjoyed the way they both turned out and as a bonus, I actually got to use them to send goodies to my friends in quarantine!  It was a win win challenge for myself all around.  I'm thinking about maybe doing this as a recurring challenge for myself because it helps use up my hoard and keeps my brain sharp.

There aren't any elements to identify because all of these pieces were scraps a bits whose origins were lost to time.  The buttons on the second card were actually ones I got at an estate sale so they really are mysteries to me.

Cruise Album #10

This page will probably end up getting moved to the end of the album because as I was making it I realized it would make a nice little end cap to the project as a whole.

Once again, this photo was taken on the Goth Night of the ship and they super imposed us in front of the crowd for Bowling For Soup from the first night.  In person I can point to where we are in the crowd so technically we're in the photo twice.

I like the rock on sentiment being the end of the album since it encapsulates it all pretty well.  It also is very typical of the other pages so it really does wrap it up nicely.

The song I'm using for today is actually from Yungblud, an artist that I saw for the first time on the very last Warped Tour festival in California.  I feel like it's appropriate because the idea of still finding new music and new artists to love after all these years I've spent with Warped Tour is truly my way of rockin' on.

Cruise Album #9

This page is a little different than the others I've made for this album so far but I tried to keep it in the same world by using a similar color scheme and of course the skulls.

The day this picture was taken I had woken up pretty sea sick, but it didn't take me long to figure out that floating in a pool on the ship actually helped quite a bit.  While one of my favorite bands, Bowling For Soup, played poolside I happily floated around and got some sun.  My friend was walking by and saw me so she took this picture before joining in.

I tried to use the same colors as previous pages and hoped the circles would be able to repeat the circle theme I have working throughout the album, even though I did something a little different with their arrangement.

The song for the day is from Bowling For Soup since they truly were the soundtrack of this photo.

Cruise Album #8

Today is a special double page day since I made this double photo one for the album!

These photos were taken at the pajama party night on the ship where I decided to wear my footie pajamas with dogs on the feet.  There was a face painter at the party so I had her paint me to match the dogs on my feet.  She was very excited to get to do something more creative since I let her completely take it away.  A roaming cruise photographer saw me in the chair and stopped to snap some photos of the process and the finished product.

Yet again I can't tell you exactly what bits and pieces I used to make this page because they were all scrounged up from an overflowing stash.  I tried to keep the page somewhat minimal so the photos would stand out.

The song for the day is by Sleeping With Sirens since I think their name fits the Pajama theme pretty well.  I've seen them multiple times on Warped Tour and love seeing their shows.  The lead singer has a very pretty voice.

Cruise Album #7

The page I worked on for today is of a another photo from the Goth Night where I got my head removed, but in this one I'm full-bodied.  They had a Goth Night the second night on the ship so my friend and I dressed in our finest spooky blacks and joined in on the festivities.  We had fun wandering around the ship to get acquainted with it.  We got stopped for this  photo which turned out pretty darn good!

This was a fun page to make because I often find myself leaning more towards silver than gold when I'm designing (and in my wardrobe too, now that I think about it...) so getting to use so much gold was a real treat.

The song for today is from Black Veil Brides which is definitely more emo than goth but they skew more towards goth than the other bands I listen to.  I've seen them a couple times on Warped Tour so it seemed fitting to use one of their songs for today.

Cruise Album #6

The page I knocked out today depicts the very first time I ever wore my Flash costume.  I bought it specifically for this trip because I needed a fun Halloween costume, but I also needed one that wouldn't take up much space in my luggage.  It's ended up being one of the best purchases I've ever made as I've worn it on many occasions.  There was a costume party on the ship on Halloween night that was super fun.  Some of the bands dressed up for it and there was a small parade from the children's station that went around showing off all the little kids in their costumes.  I got candy from one of them because apparently I was their favorite superhero.  My friend didn't want to dress up quite as much since we'd had a fairly long day already so she mostly just went punk/goth again.

I don't have many identifiable elements for this page because it was put together from a lot of bits and pieces I once again took from my mom's stash.

3OH!3 is one of my all time favorite bands and they have a very strong party vibe to them which is why they were the ones playing at the Halloween costume party.  They brought fans dressed in inflatable dinosaur costumes up on the stage to dance and made it an awesome time.

Cruise Album #5

Since it is quarantine central over at my place I have taken this opportunity to finally work on finishing the cruise album I started last October.  It is long overdue so I'm going to do my best to churn out the pages and finish it up!

This was a pretty fun picture for us to take on the cruise.  I had already purchased a photo pass package thing so we were able to take photos at the various photo booths they'd set up so when we stumbled on this one we had to give it a go.

I used some buttons from my mom's stash for this page that I stole when I moved out but she hasn't missed them yet so I don't feel too bad.  The other elements of the page were things that I actually purchased specifically for this project.  I usually by supplies without any specific project in mind but now that I've started planning out whole albums its made my buying habits more intentional and therefore less wasteful.

The song I chose today got chosen since it has a nautical pirate themed video that fits the lovely beheading in our photo.  I've seen Senses Fail on many a Warped Tour and they'll always have a place in my heart because of it.

All Out of Sympathy

I really got down to it and finished organizing all the cards that I have in my stash to make them easier to locate in the moment and in doing so I realized that I didn't really have any sympathy cards.  Like any at all.  So I decided to make one up today just so I'm ready in case if I need to be.

I don't make many sympathy cards because I've been fortunate enough to not need them that often, so I was extra careful to make sure that I didn't make it too "loud" or "crazy" like some of my other endeavors can end up.

I'm really glad that I was able to find this nice sentiment stamp at Tuesday Morning not too long ago as well.  It's nice and simple which means it can be used on a lot of different style cards.

Crazy Love #9

The real theme of this Crazy Love series seems to be quick and easy cards, and I'm okay with that.  This card is a lot more traditional Valentine's Day.  I may have gone overboard with the heart embellishments but I like to think of it as my love just pouring out into my work (my love for shiny things, that is).

This card was completely stress free to make which is exactly the type of card I like.  I just hope the recipient enjoys it as much as I do!

Crazy Love #6

Today's card took a lot more time than I initially expected because I decided to try something that I haven't done in awhile which is coloring!

I got to use a few colors that I haven't played with in a bit like the light blue (it was a bad day to try and photograph it so it looks a little dingier than in person) and as with a few of the cards in this series I really like not having totally traditional colors for Valentine's cards.

The coloring took some time, especially because my hands were a little extra shaky this morning and my sneezing was off the charts but it definitely could've turned out worse.  I would like to try and incorporate coloring into my work more often since it looks nice and is fairly relaxing to do.

Crazy Love #5

Today's Valentine's Day card is a little non-traditional in the Valentine realm.  I thought this stamp set was just the absolute cutest thing and decided to use the chameleon from it as color inspiration as well.  Raiding my mom's stamp set collection is a favorite past time of mine.

The card came together slowly, building from the sentiment out.  I'm most proud that I was able to work some more of my grandma's bling into the card pretty seamlessly.

The card was difficult to photograph in the excessive Arizona sun since I couldn't actually see my phone screen but other than the marker on the chameleon everything looks relatively like it should.
